Neoliberal: Terms, Thoughts, Questions
Each TTQ Memo consists of three parts and should be written in bullet point format.
The parts should be presented as follows:
1) Terms: you should list no less than three terms from the reading that are new to you and provide the
definition of each term.
2) Thoughts: Write at least two thoughts on the reading that reflect your critical understanding of the
reading. One should demonstrate an understanding of the larger argument of the reading. The second should demonstrate an understanding of either a case study (i.e. Lesotho communities, Canadian First Nations, etc.) and its social, cultural, political and/or environmental implications for the case study or the social, cultural, political, and /or environmental themes addressed of the article (i.e. gender, race, NGO’s, policies, etc.)
3) Questions: Write at least two questions that you believe are not addressed by the reading. These may include definitions of terms, the application of terms, aspects of a cast study that aren’t clear, or something about the larger argument of the article that seems problematic. Questions that you should avoid are those that fall into the general theme of “why doesn’t everyone agree on the importance of environmental preservation/conservation/sustainability/global change”, “is corruption always an issue”, “why are indigenous people’s knowledge not always respected”. The questions should be more specific to the article.
