1 Free trade comes in many forms.
There are many forms of trade agreements ranging from customs unions to single markets, free trade arrangements, to association treaties. It appears that Canada has engaged with EU’s in the most ambitious trade treaty for the latter. Although the agreement has not been ratified, the agreement has already come into force.
2 Most of the goods traded between Canada and the EU have been made duty-free.
Some of the traded goods under the new agreement between Canada and the EU are already duty-free. Both sides will be able to trade without having to worry about taxes, but European importers will enjoy zero tariffs on some 9,000 items (Robertson, 2018).
