Kelley’s 10 faces of innovation: Care giver
The caregiver plays a vital role in innovation, as individuals rely on empathy to understand patient needs and improve relationships with clients/ patients (Malloch & Porter-O’Grady, 2009). In healthcare, improved patient engagement has facilitated human-centred experience and led to better patient experience. Insistence on patient-centered healthcare provision has also resulted to better patient monitoring, and I have found that patients are more informed when there is patient engagement and this spurs innovation in the workplace. In other words, understanding what each patient requires helps in identifying areas that require improvement and service innovations. Hence, customer care extends before service delivery, through integrating their needs and this makes it easier to cater for these needs (Malloch & Porter-O’Grady, 2009). Engaging with patients has been one of the most important aspects to improving innovation. This is because patients are more likely to experience better outcome as patient engagement also improves caregiver support.
