How would you feel if your nurse practitioner preceptor told you she wants to manage the patient her way not what you believe in " implementing the evidence based practice"-the guidelines?
And this is my discussion post the question was based of:
Healthcare can achieve universal health coverage by ensuring effective global policies. Global policies ensure uniformity in healthcare delivery (Torres-Alzate, 2019). In this case, WHO aims to ensure this uniformity. However, based on the study outcomes, this post shall reflect on global policy reform and its impact on patient care.
Evidence-based decision-making is vital in healthcare to make an informed decision. When healthcare adopts evidence-based practice, it uses the most compelling evidence in combination with the health expert's experience in the field of practice (Berwick et al., 2018). In addition, this type of decision-making allows the health professional to integrate their expertise with the patient's preferences and values in making crucial decisions. The evidence-based practice process ensures that the treatment is comprehensive and accurate. Therefore, evidence-based decision-making ensures effective and quality care for patient outcomes.
System thinking is a process for identifying problems in a complex system through different approaches that lead to specific results. In this case, healthcare can minimize errors and inefficiencies during patient treatment (Berwick et al., 2018). One of the significant benefits of system thinking is that it ensures enhanced patient-centered care. Besides, this process also encourages questioning and embraces a problem-solving atmosphere. Therefore, system thinking is crucial in making an informed decision on patient outcomes and nursing practice globally.
Aligned culture, policies, incentives, and leadership enable the healthcare organization to make an informed decision. The established policies set a solid foundation for organizational integrity (Berwick et al., 2018). In this instance, the organization follows the set policies to ensure quality healthcare services. Besides, coordinated leadership and incentives ensure efficient management of healthcare resources to attain maximal healthcare quality and patient outcomes. Lastly, when policies, incentives, and leadership align with communities across the globe, healthcare service delivery becomes smooth with minimal cultural barriers. These alignments are crucial for healthcare organizations to make universal decisions regarding healthcare service deliveries.
In my upcoming practicum experience, I shall adopt the system design during service delivery. In this case, the system design accommodates human factors during treatment (Leatherman & Berwick, 2020). For instance, this design prioritizes the patient's needs and ensures maximum service delivery satisfaction. Through this system, I shall ensure that I anticipate the patient's needs rather than be reactive. In brief, I shall base my judgment on evidence-based decisions and systems that allow continuous feedback.
I shall integrate evidence-based practice into my upcoming practicum experience. Foremost, I shall inquire about the patient's issues and make a definitive objective (Leatherman & Berwick, 2020). After that, I shall search for relevant and effective healthcare articles and journals from credible sources as part of my research. With the existing experience, I shall combine it with the findings to make a proper action plan. Lastly, I shall evaluate the action plan results to make solid decisions and outline future recommendations.
