Learner’s Role and Teacher Responsibility
The teacher has different roles in each of the four models: Montessori, Reggio, High Scope, and Project Approach. In Montessori, the teacher has the responsibility of ensuring that the child’s needs and interests are considered in the education process. The teacher has to ensure that they create a learning environment that is safe and motivating (Morrison, 2015). The teacher has to support self-directed learning, which means allowing the child to work alone while they observe and ensure the child has all the required resources for learning.
In the High Scope model, the teacher’s role is to design activities that align with the learner’s interests. Additionally, they also support the learning process by encouraging the student to motivate them (Morrison, 2015). The relationship involves a constructive, teacher-student interaction approach. In the Reggio model, the teacher has to collaborate with other teachers while also developing learning environments that have numerous opportunities. The teacher interacts with the child and acts as a recorder by assisting them in reviewing their actions and words.
