One of the primary criteria that made Dos Puentes Elementary School in New York successful is the presence of highly qualified bilingual teachers. These professionals are committed to the dual-language programs and oversee that children succeed in all their activities. In addition, Dos Puentes Elementary school was founded under four major pillars, including bicultural, family as partners, inquiry-based learning, and university partnerships (CUNY-NYSIEB Webinars, 2016). The school conducts various cultural events to promote multilingual learners.
The school only admits students from its immediate community. Specifically, it was opened in 2013 to foster the well-being of bilingual families in the community.
