The fact that multinational corporations and the government feel compelled to use billions of dollars annually to manipulate the people is a perverse acknowledgment of human nature and moral values. According to Stauber, “the industry of public relations has stolen the dreams of the people and returned them as illusions.” I think every human being has to dream and participate in the process of transforming these dreams into reality. Based on the movie "Toxic Sludge is good for you", the film examines the invisible partner of the advertising industry. The film also assists the viewers to analyze the tools that are used by public relations experts to shift our perception. It also shows how the management of the public mind has become important to western society.
“Toxic Sludge is good for you” is a movie that tracks the development of public relations industry especially from the efforts of the industry in winning the American support for World War 1. The movie also examines the role of managing crisis when controlling the damage of the image to the client. The movie also urges us to learn how to listen and how to think as well. Additionally, the movie illustrates the extent to what we think as being unbiased, independent, and informative has its foundation on the boardrooms of the PR industry (Doughty, & Etherington-Wright, 2017).
