In Java, inheritance allows the newly created class to borrow from the features and methods of an existing class. This concept is key to efficiency as it helps in code reusability. The keyword ‘extends’ is used in the context of inheritance to enable a child class to inherit the properties and methods of a parent class, also referred to as the superclass.
