The journey of film making is challenging. Producers consider several factors that ensure that a final product of cinema captures the interests of people. The movie produced often talk about different issues that affect people globally, and migration is one of them. The two films and the two readings highlight different themes surrounding the home, homeland, and exile scenarios. This essay is a reflection of the significant themes of two films and the reading.
Migration happens because of several reasons. In the movie Siao Yu, Siao and her boyfriend are illegal immigrants in New York, America. The main hurdle is what they go through trying to become citizens in America. The person who helps them takes advantage of their situation and marries Siao as a way to help (Siao Yu, 1995). This is a representation of what people go through away from home. Most of the people who migrate to other countries are in search of a better life. Siao and her boyfriends are from china, but they are in the US illegally in search of better lives.
The movie Siao Yu explores the problems that immigrants go through and leaves behind the issue of migration. From a critical point, the big issue is the green card. The Americans mistreat the immigrants because they have few options for survival. The two protagonists in the film go through a tough time trying to survive, and they even have to pay a native to marry Siao so that she can become a citizen of the US (Siao Yu, 1995).
The film Define Intervention explores mobility and the freedom of homeland the privileges that come with being at home. The protagonists who are lovers live in different cities where they cannot meet freely because of the cross-border restrictions. ES is an Israeli citizen. His father is ailing in Jerusalem (Define Intervention, 2002). ES is in love with a woman from Ramallah's town in Palestine, and he is in Jerusalem. The trouble they go through to enjoy their romantic time brings out the pleasure. The mobility of people is incredibly limited. The film Siao Yu similarly explores the theme of mobility.
