Then, in a well-written 5- to 6-page paper (excluding title and references pages) to include three scholarly sources from the required or optional readings list, respond to the following:
What do you believe are the most critical threats (discuss at least 3) confronting the Measurement Equipment Co. Inc. (MESCO)?
Hint: As you read the case, take note how events that have emerged in the company’s external environment, for example, increased regulation, and economic, social, and technological factors, have created the need for the company to consider undergoing some major changes.
In the Background section of this module, we reviewed the role of Culture, Commitment, Capacity, and Capability to determine the extent to which companies are prepared to undertake major organizational changes successfully.
Your task is to list four factors that the company should consider as they relate to MESCO’s readiness to change. Defend and explain your reasoning for each factor.
What steps do you recommend Bill Smith should take to move forward with the company’s major organizational changes successfully?
What do you believe the company should do to sufficiently prepare for this proposed organizational change?

Introduction
Change is inevitable for organizations that operate in a complex business environment. The business environment is influenced by different factors beyond an organizational structure's control. However, organizations could mitigate evolving risks by improvising objectives and allocating strategic resources for long-term sustainability. Successful change management is essential for organizations to diversify evolving risks and continue operations with productive outcomes (Sung & Kim, 2021). This report aims to examine, recommend, and propose preparation for Measurement Equipment Supply Company Inc. (MESCO).
MESCO is a third-generation family business engaged in the regional distribution of pressure, flow, and temperature measurement equipment used in the oil and gas (O&G) industry. Bill Smith is the current President and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MESCO. Smith intends to continue the business excellence established by his forefathers by building networks and integrating timely changes in the business model. Smith intends to continue operations with excellence and strong relationships (Burton & Pope, 2012).
Discussion
Critical Threats
MESCO is an industry leader with a reputation for manufacturing environmental measuring equipment for the O&G sector. However, the industrial leadership exposes MESCO to the following threats to the business environment:
* The case specifies that environmentalists are a fundamental threat to MESCO. Environmentalists are pressuring the O&G industry to mitigate reliance on fossil fuels to protect ecology. The O&G sector is investing in exploring alternatives to mitigate environmental pressures (Burton & Pope, 2012). As a result, MESCO experienced a market disruption since the company's equipment focused more on fossil fuel extraction.
* Economic conditions are the second threat for MESCO operating in the O&G industry. The economic downturn disturbed the distribution network for the company. O&G industry became unreliable and unpredictable since economic conditions reduced disposable income for households to purchase vehicles and consume fuel products. The equipment demand is rapidly reducing for MESCO (Burton & Pope, 2012).
* Technological integration is evolving rapidly, creating a threat for MESCO. The competitors use social networking websites and other digital solutions to strengthen communication channels with business customers. Unfortunately, MESCO has limited focus while integrating necessary technological solutions for competitive communication (Burton & Pope, 2012).
Factors of Change
Based on the case analysis, capacity is the most critical factor MESCO needs to improve while nurturing change in the business model. Arguably, MESCO has an industrial reputation and secured leadership position. However, the company is losing its industrial standing since the operational exchanges are underperformed due to limited capacity. MESCO should improve its technological capacity to align other three factors of change, commitment, culture, and capability, in the long run.
As identified by Burton and Pope (2012), technological capacity is absent ...
