Organizations use projects to implement their strategies as efforts of achieving their goals. In doing so, they should ensure that all the required resources and mechanisms are put in place to execute the project. One of such resources is the human capital that plays a crucial role in the implementation of projects. In the case of TriHealth, the roles of human resource are evident where the different roles and responsibilities of those who are involved in the implementation of a project are highlighted. However, despite the different goals and objectives of organizations, implementing a human resource project is common and crucial.
Common Roles in a Human Resource Project
From the case of TriHealth, different roles in human resource project are highlighted and it is important to identify these roles for easy implementation of the strategies. In projects, there are both associate and managerial level roles (Carroll, 2009). The common roles that can be identified in a human resource include project sponsors, manager and project team. Each of these roles is based on the different functions they perform to ensure the project is successful.
The sponsor of the project is like the owner. The sponsors initiate the project and determine its mission and vision in the long run. They have different responsibilities that range from supporting the whole project by ensuring all the required resources are available to monitoring whether the project is aligned to its objectives. Always the sponsors are involved from the time of inception to the outcomes of the project (Carroll, 2009). Additionally, project sponsors can mentor the project manager by showing a sense of commitment and coordinate with the project leaders to identify all the barriers and find strategies that may be utilized to ensure success of the project.
Another crucial role in a human resource project is the project leader or manager (Kloppenborg, 2009). These are the individuals who are responsible for all the processes of the project. The project manager mobilizes all the involved and relevant stakeholders of the project. The manager is also responsible for planning, executing and ending the project (Harrison & Lock, 2004). This role demands the project leaders to be flexible since they are the ones who determine when the goals of the project are to be met. Additionally, they should ensure that the necessary resources are enough and are utilized effectively.
Finally, project sponsors and leaders cannot succeed on their own without a team. A project team implements all the strategies and directions of the managers in line with the goals of the sponsors within a set timeline (Harrison & Lock, 2004).The success of the project depends on the competency of the team members, if they are incompetent the objectives of the sponsors will not be realized. Therefore, project team members determine the success of the project.
