Case Study Instructions 
- The Case Study should begin with a Decision Statement. In order to decide who should make the decision and why, one should define/identify that decision.
- The case study must be written in third person. 
- Students will complete a short case study of a business situation. This assignment has two parts:
Required Elements to include in Case Study #2:
Part 1: 
· Decide who should make the decision in front of the organization, the father or the daughter and explain why.
· Using the course readings to support the decision and the reasons for the exclusion of the other.
Part 2: 
· Create a group to make a decision;
· First, discuss the wisdom in having a group make the decision as opposed to the father or daughter individually, both pros and cons. 
· Explain how the group would best be formed, who it might include, who would be leading the group, how the group should operate, how a leaders perspective should interface in the discussion, any problems to be avoided and how to avoid them (e.g. bias from possibility of losing their jobs etc.), and include their degree of authority in making the decision.
· Show a thorough use of the material from weeks four, five and six.

- This report should be double spaced, in narrative format, 12-point font, excluding the title page and reference page;
- Title page with your name, the course name, the date, and instructor’s name;
Include a reference page;
Use headings to separate the different sections;
Write in the third person;”

In every organization, there is the existence of mass which measures the organizations resistance to change. In getting the organization to make a change is a challenge that is experienced by many managers since the mass is not self-contained. In order to execute change within an organization, the mass has to be self-contained and headed in the same direction. An organization ought to have an aligned vision and value as well as an effective organizational structure in order to forge its way through the market.
If these structures are not efficiently put to place, chances are the organization may not excel in the market. When the mass is appropriately held together and the internal fictions kept low, the functions of the organization can remain significant. It is therefore imperative that an organization needs to remain vibrant when decisions are made in a right approach and implemented effectively (Fedorowicz, & Konsynski, 2002). In other words, the secret of an organizations progress in the market depends on the making of good decisions and implementing them without wasting time. This paper therefore seeks to analyze the decision making process of AT&D as described in the case study and pursue the appropriate approaches of engaging groups in the process.
Decision Making In Front Of the Organization
AT&D leaders as described in the case study had a situation to handle that required a decision that had to be made and implemented. The company’s financial picture turned grim and in order to survive, the daughter of the company’s owner had to make a decision. In her decision, she saw the need of forging into a new market with the aim of reaching a new client base in the automobile industry. However, the decision to move the plant from Michigan and open a new one in Mississippi was not well received. Brofft analyzed his daughter’s theory of moving the plants operation to another state and saw a situation in which close to 195 workers would be laid off. This suggestion and decision paralyzed his decision even in the event that he knew this was rational.
It is imperative to mention that AT&D is a family owned business and the decision making approaches in such a venture may receive conflicts or mixed reactions. Mueller, Broffts daughter seemed to be the decision maker and practiced this approach in an autocratic manner. She never welcomed the thoughts and decisions of other and made the decisions of the company on an individual basis (Fedorowicz, & Konsynski, 2002). The lack of ownership in the decision making process was a major setback for Brofft, since he had no voice in the process.
However, in such an event where the company is faced with a tough situation, it is significant that decisions are left for the senior family member to make. Brofft as a leader in the first generation family has to take authority in the decision making process, a factor that makes the process efficient.
