The Inheritance and Asking for Forgiveness
In the Parable of the Found Son Luke 15:11-32, a father forgave his prodigal son after squandering his share of the inheritance and asking for forgiveness after returning home. Sirach 12:7 distinguishes between good (religious and devout) people and sinners and highlights that good people deserve help, but not the sinners. The difference between the two is that the bible indicates sinners will be forgiven if they choose the right path, but the Apocrypha indicates that sinners should not be rewarded.
