Niccolo Machiavelli was the first political philosopher to distinguish between ethics and politics. He was more concerned with actuality and what needed to be accomplished than what was good or bad. Over philosophical principles, he placed a strong focus on practical and pragmatic tactics. Many of Machiavelli’s views are loved, and it is important to put his life in a new light. His works from the sixteenth century are still important today, and he is with no doubt among the most powerful political thinkers of all time.
Machiavelli was perhaps the most influential Renaissance figure. He was a man of conviction, despite neither being a religious leader or a brilliant artist. Machiavelli was appointed to a prominent position in the Florence administration at the early age of 29, where he was entrusted with missions abroad for regional Italians and European courts (Machiavelli, 2015). His abilities also allowed him to assume a more proactive approach, as seen by his commanding forces in the conquest of Pisa by the Florentine army. However, his most incredible enduring legacy is his book “The Prince,” which outlines how a ruler may achieve and hold power. In this instance, he ignored the concept of right and wrong (Marriott, 2021). “The Prince” is regarded as one of history’s most significant works and is still taught today.
Some of the key outlines of the book are supported by the observation and philosophers of both Epicurus and Epictetus, two of the most influential ancient thinkers in politics. He suggested preparedness for the worse and never being afraid to make changes or take action (Çetin, 2020). Moreover, he stipulated that risks cannot be fully avoided; however, they can be controlled through preparations. Machiavelli is also of the notion presented by Epicurus and Epictetus that there is limited time to attain happiness in life and that no time should be wasted in the quest for happiness (Machiavelli, 2015). He is also observant of the fact that a person should collaborate with individuals who benefit from a person’s success since they are reliable friends. 
According to Machiavelli, the use of passion as the primary motivator is essential because it brings forth the right candidate, especially in leadership. Therefore, his advice to the leaders is that they should concentrate on their desire to rule and deal with any obstacles on the way.
