Q1. Types of Bones in the Human Body
Human bones comprise compact bony tissue, which gives strengths and structural formation containing specialized cells, collagen fibers, and the content of mineral salts formed from calcium phosphate. The human skeleton has numerous functions, including providing weight support and protection. Different types of bones have multiple shapes connected to primary roles or purposes. First, long bones are longer than wide with bulky extremities and have different sizes and shapes. Long bones are primarily compressed but may give a large amount of spongy at their ends. They are located in the thighs, arms, forearms, and legs. Second, short bones are cubical-shaped with almost equal horizontal and vertical dimensions. They have spongy textures covered with thin layers of dense bone. Short bones are also known as cuboidal due to their similar dimensions in width and length. Examples include carpel and tarsals and bones on the wrist and ankle.
Lone bones in the human body grow in parts such that during fetal development, they get formed from cartilage. Special cells called osteoblasts develop tissues laid as mineralized channels in the cartilage. The shaft of long bones starts to ossify, and later the ends begin forming their center of ossification. As the long bone develops or grows, new cartilage gets added while the part becomes mineralized. On the other hand, three types of cells are involved in the formation and remodeling process in short bones. Osteoblasts involve cells that make up a shirt bone; osteocytes are mature bn cells, while osteoclasts break to reabsorb the bone.
