Details of task
As an individual, keep an eye out for current events in the marketing communication industry. Collect news stories related to marketing communication. Select one current (within the past six months) news story from your collection and provide insightful analysis using one theoretical framework/model/concept covered in the textbook and online lessons (or, properly referenced marketing communication theory outside of this unit).
The current event report should include the following components:
A brief recap of the selected news story.
The theoretical framework/model/concept you choose to use in your analysis.
An elaboration on why and how this framework/model/concept applies to the current event.
Your analysis of the event in light of the theory.
Conclusion and potential alternatives/improvements.
Appropriate referencing of the news story, data, and theories.
Word limit: No more than 1000 words per report.
Penalties for late lodgement: All late assignments will attract a penalty of 10% for every 24 hour period that it is late

Essay formatting requirements
You must use Times New Roman size 12 font, double spacing, fully justified paragraphs and 3cm margins on A4 pages. Please number the pages.
The first page of the report is a title page which includes, as a minimum: the report title, tutor's name, your name and student ID. This is to be followed by the first page of the report (numbered p.1 - the title page is not numbered).
Your current event report must be in one Word/PDF document. No other formats will be accepted.
Assignment coversheet is not required.
You are welcome to use headings and tables within your report if you wish.
Your report must be fully and correctly referenced using the APA referencing style.
Criteria for marking: Your current event report will be marked based on the following criteria. Detailed expectations for each criterion are explained in the current event report rubric.
Primary criteria: choice of current event, theoretical framework, analysis of the event, conclusion and alternatives
Secondary criteria: writing, reference

The new story for this essay is the recent marketing communication article by Business Insider titled “Disney+ will launch a cheaper version with ads in the US this year” (Clark, 2022). The report provided communication from Disney about a cheaper streaming version on Disney+ in America. In 2023, the firm intends to offer this choice to other global markets (See Figure 1.1). This move rose from some of Disney+’s streaming competitors that provide ad-supported choices. HBO Max from Warner Media launched an ad-oriented option for $9.99 in 2021, while the ad-free option attracted $14.99 monthly (Clark, 2022). As a result, Disney desire to tap into that market.

Theoretical Framework
The theory to analyze the event and advert is the cognitive processing concept based on the cognitive responses of the Disney marketing communication. Evaluation of customers’ mental reactions through cognitive processing is one of the most extensively utilized approaches for assessing their responses to advertising messages (Horne et al., 2019). It examines the thought process and feedback that arise while reading, watching, or listening to any communication model. Customer reactions to communication are usually measured verbally or by responding through social media or online websites (Prezenski et al., 2017). The theory follows three primary forms of cognitive responses: product or message, source-oriented, and ad execution thoughts (Nicolae et al., 2017). The ideology also checks on how answers connect to the intentions and perspectives of the recipients.
Reasons for Choosing Cognitive Processing
The cognitive process theory is an excellent analytical model because it is broadly employed in studies by both researchers and advertising practitioners. The goal of the approach is to figure out what kinds of responses an advertising message elicits and how these reactions link to ad notions, brand attitudes, and buying behavior (Zhang, 2020). This aspect is critical in determining how Disney’s information will affect customers and their responses to the strategy. Furthermore, the theory relates to cognitive learning. This crucial mental process involves integrating every consumer’s cognitive functions in addressing the problem of acquiring particular items or services and the relationships affected (Guinaliu-Blasco et al., 2019). It also entails the acquisition of new marketing communications-related ideologies, perspectives, attitudes, and purchase reasoning.
Analysis of the Disney News
