Part 1
In her article “The effects of plastic pollution on aquatic wildlife: current situations and future solutions,” Michelle Singler proposes several edge-cutting technologies that could be incorporated to reduce plastic waste into the oceans by converting plastic waste to oil (Sigler, 2014). The background of the study looked into the impacts of waterborne plastics in our ecosystems, such as death from ingestion, entanglement, carrying invasive species, and uncovering global garbage patches. The research hypothesis is that new technologies like using frequency identification (RFID) tags to track trash and cellular transmitters would solve the plastic accumulation problem. According to the preliminary research results, the new technology (RFID) has effectively tracked garbage where data is limited.
