The article, Acting Silly about Color is about equity among actors playing leading role in films from different countries, particular for this article, a British actor ‘painted yellow’ playing a role in Miss Saigon, a film from Europe and it would be disrespectful to the Asians. The article is a clear disapproval of the union’s rules of protecting its local actors from competition brought by featuring actors of a different race.
This review article is persuading the reader of the failure of Actor Equity to allow actors play a different race character. Miss Saigon is played by Jonathan Pryce, a British actor, who has been made to look European and the union points it is disrespectful to Asians, who, think otherwise though.
