In this article, the author André M.N. Renzaho underlines the issue of lack of data related to the nutritional status of the sub Saharan African refugees in Australia. The article highlights the complex in understanding the nutritional status of a population in the modern society where body image, eating practices and food rely heavily on the economic status of the society and the availability of medical services and awareness (Ranzaho, 2004, p.105). This diverse context of the population in the modern society imposes challenges to dieticians, health educators and researchers in indentifying the factors which contribute to the changes in feeding practices and to establish initiatives aimed at combating the corresponding dietary disorders among the African refugees in Australia.
